The Glen Cary Mission team identifies opportunities for the congregation to share the gospel of Jesus Christ beyond the walls of our church. There are mission opportunities within our community and beyond.
Through the ELCA Division of Global Ministry we support ELCA missionaries. On a monthly basis we send birthday cards to ELCA missionaries to support, encourage and appreciate their work on our behalf.
In partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Malawi the congregation has raised and sent funds to build a church in Malawi, and to provide sewing machines and supplies for their vocational training programs.
The Mission team dispersed non-designated funds to international needs, also. We have contributed to Lutheran Word Relief disaster aid, and to wells in Nigeria. The congregation joined with the ELCA -Stand With Africa project to raise finds for the Extra Mile Giving during Lent 2004.
Through the ELCA Partners in Mission program, Glen Cary supports the New Life Lutheran Church - a new ELCA congregation in the northern suburbs.
The ministry supports the Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project by offering fairly traded coffee, tea, and chocolate for sale to the congregation on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
The Mission Team selects speakers twice a year to present the gospel from the perspective of global mission.
The Mission Ministry projects have been generously supported by the members of Glen Cary. The Mission Team meets monthly to review current projects and to consider additional opportunities to care for and support mission within our reach.
