On Sunday, November 29 and Sunday, December 6, Glen Cary will host a "TLC Toys Toy Store" where these amazing, handmade toys will be available for purchase.
An absolutely amazing charitable organization in our own back yard! For those of you who “oohhed and aahhed” over the wooden Noah’s Ark that LSS provides for children at Camp Noahs, and the wonderful wooden toys we saw at the Toy Shop last year, they were made by TLC Toys in Andover. 
 
TLC Toys was begun by one man, Mel Hartman, in 1990. Since it’s beginning, Mel, and his “elves” who now number about 50-75, have created and donated over 180,000 toys, most of them to children in the Twin City area. The entire process is completed with only volunteers – there is no paid staff at TLC Toys. 

The organization receives donations of materials from a number of places, and the volunteers range from youth who are serving community hours, to senior citizens, to inmates in St. Cloud, Faribault, and Shakopee, to those simply looking for a way to give back to the community. Work is done in the workshop or the volunteer’s homes, and ranges from cutting and sanding, to painting, to assembling, to sewing doll clothes.
 
Glen Cary has been given an opportunity to sell some of the wonderful high quality, hand-made toys from TLC as a way to raise funds to buy materials not donated. We will have the Toy Store open on Sunday, November 29, and Sunday, December 6, from 8:30 a.m. - Noon.

Camp WAPO's Christmas Dinner Theatre - Sunday, December 13 at 4 p.m.
Join us for a nostalgic story set in 1941 of a family preparing to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace in perilous times!  Come and enjoy a sumptuous four-course meal, wonderful music, and moving drama!

Mary Reynoldson was the Finance Secretary at Glen Cary from 1988 to 1999.  In addition to doing the bookkeeping, Mary also produced the Caryer for many of those years.  She was warm and welcoming to all who entered our doors.  Check out her story at Caringbridge.org.

Adults are invited to join the Senior High Youth to package meals on March 10th -

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN is a Christian nonprofit hunger relief organization that was founded in 1987 right here in Minnesota. In 2008 alone, more than 310,000 volunteers packed 73.6 MILLION meals for children around the world!  94% of all donations go directly to purchasing food supplies for volunteers to package.  Each meal, which feeds a child a nutritious, filling meal for a whole day, costs just 17 cents. 

Feed My Starving Children is currently focusing on food for Haiti. 

Youth in grades 9-12 and all adults are invited to join us on March 10th to package meals in Coon Rapids.  We'll meet at church at 7:15 p.m. and return about 10 p.m.  Sign up on the youth board in the narthex, or call the church office to put your name on the sign-up list.  Only 30 spots are available!

We as a society and church need to do all that is possible to keep our children and youth safe.  "Safeguarding God's Children" is an important program of our Church to keep our young people safe from sexual abuse.
In early September we will have four opportunities to attend a session, led by Barb Stringer and Damian Burkhalter.  It is strongly recommended that our Confirmation Guides, Sunday School Staff, Nursery Workers, and of course all parents and grandparents attend.  We owe our children our very best effort to keep them safe from any form of sexual abuse.  Please sign up on the kiosk in the Narthex for one of the sessions.  The dates are:
