Fare For All is an affordable food puchasing program that has no income-based requirement; anyone is eligible to participate.  You can order and pay for your choice of "packs" by the 10th of a month, then pick up your food package(s) at Glen Cary on the designated Saturday morning. 

Fare For All offers packages of fresh produce and frozen meat at 40% savings. All of the food is purchased in bulk directly from wholesalers. Utilizing bulk purchasing power allows them to get product at a good value and pass on the savings to us.  Fare For All strives to offer quality and nutritional food packages. The exact content of the packages changes each month while the value remains the same.

From now through September 10th, you can order food package(s) to pick-up at Glen Cary on Saturday, September 18th, by calling (763) 450-3880.  You will need your credit card or EBT card to place your order.  Going forward, you can place your order for the following month when you pick up your packages, or you can call it in any time before about the 10th of the month.  If you order at Glen Cary, we will accept cash, check, or EBT card.

Beginning Wednesday, September 15, a Women's Bible Study will meet weekly from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.  We have been invited to meet at Sharon Swanson's home.  If you need Sharon's address, please check your Glen Cary directory, or call the church office.

The study for September 2010-May 2011 will be "The People of God:  Unity in the Midst of Diversity."    The authors are a husband and wife team, Jensen and Linda Johnson Seyenkulo, who will lead us through discussions to help us with real commitments to stay engaged with others who are different from us. 

Check the Welcome Center in the Narthex for a sample of the Lutheran Woman Today magazine, as well as subscription information. 

All women are welcome.  If you've been thinking about digging deeper into the Bible, well, here is your chance to do that and make some new friends who are doing just that, too.  You can join us at any time - we love to see new faces around the table for coffee and tea.

With fall approaching, the Clothing Closet is looking for donations of gently used jackets and coats for all ages.  Also, there is a great need for boy's and men's jeans.  If you have items to donate, please mark the bags and leave them in the food shelf area by the red wagons.

Non-perishable food and paper products of all kinds are always needed, and remember that Glen Cary is doing the Birthday Bags for children whose families use the food shelf.  Cake mixes and cans of frosting are needed, and there are bags and cards to decorate - you'll find them just inside Good Shepherd Hall.

And, there are volunteer opportunties; call Connie Jeffers if you are interested.  

Mary Reynoldson was the Finance Secretary at Glen Cary from 1988 to 1999.  In addition to doing the bookkeeping, Mary also produced the Caryer for many of those years.  She was warm and welcoming to all who entered our doors.  Check out her story at Caringbridge.org. 

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN is a Christian nonprofit hunger relief organization that was founded in 1987 right here in Minnesota.   In 2008 alone, more than 310,000 volunteers packed 73.6 MILLION meals for children around the world!  94% of all donations go directly to purchasing food supplies for volunteers to package.  Each meal, which feeds a child a nutritious, filling meal for a whole day, costs just 17 cents. 

Feed My Starving Children is currently focusing on food for Haiti. 

Youth in grades 9-12 and all adults are invited to join us on March 10th to package meals in Coon Rapids.  We'll meet at church at 7:15 p.m. and return about 10 p.m.  Sign up on the youth board in the narthex, or call the church office to put your name on the sign-up list.  Only 30 spots are available! 

Monday, February 23, 7:00 p.m.  -  "Beyond Narnia", a movie about the life of C.S. Lewis.  Come to see the movie, and join the short discussion

Grab your clubs and head out to Hidden Haven Golf Course for a fun afternoon of golfing followed by supper.  Cost is $42.50 which includes golf, cart, dinner and prizes.  Contact Jason Rud if you are interested in joining this fun time.

Glen Cary will hold its annual Cast-Away Sale for the community on April 22-24, 2010.  Whether you are looking for clothing, tools, furniture, household items...you may find it here at hard-to-pass-up prices!  All proceeds benefit community programs, and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is providing supplemental funding. 
Donations for the sale may be brought to Glen Cary on Sunday, April 18, Noon - 2:30 pm; Monday, April 19, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Tuesday, April 20, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
