PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT FAMILY PROMISE OF ANOKA COUNTY
  ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL HOST WEEK
A big round of applause to Peace Lutheran for hosting FPAC for two weeks straight. Peace hosted FPAC guests August 14-28th. This was a big undertaking. They had to recruit twice the number of volunteers and just be available for the FPAC guests. Thank you to Karen Gerhardt, Jennie Tedrow for leading this effort along with Pastor Nancy, Pastor Val and the many volunteers at Peace. Hosting for two weeks in a row proved to be stressful, but Peace did a fabulous job for all of the families served. Thank you-thank you-thank you!

Also, a big thank you to Greg & Annette Olson and their team of volunteers at Zion Lutheran for hosting FPAC this week. Based on what we have heard around the day center, the meals were a big hit and on Saturday morning, the guests will have the opportunity to sleep in and enjoy a delicious hot breakfast.

Next up: UMC-Anoka with First Congregational.

2012 Hosting Schedule
Can you believe its is time to plan for the 2012 hosting calendar? I can't believe how fast time flies. I would like to have the 2012 schedule completed by mid-October. Please send me the dates your congregation is unable to host during 2012. To date, I have only received dates from four congregations. I would like to have this information by September 15, 2011. If you have questions, feel free to give me a call or send me an email.

Day Center Volunteer Opportunities
Do you know someone that is interested in volunteering for FPAC? Do you know someone with extra time to share? Well, we are recruiting weekend day center hosts as well as "handy-person-for-a-day". We would welcome the opportunity to chat more about these volunteer opportunities. If this sounds interesting to you or someone you know, please don't hesitate to call us at the day center. The number is 763-568-7365.

TPC ROSE Golf Invitational = HUGE SUCCESS
On Tuesday, August 16th, the TPC ROSE group sponsored their 2nd Annual Women's golf invitational and Bridge tournament. What a fabulous event! Every detail was thoughtfully rolled out and there was so much energy in the room, with women that came out to have fun and support a great cause...Family Promise. Well, the fun is just beginning. If you didn't get a chance to attend the golf event, then mark your calendars and plan to attend the Fall Gala. The TPC ROSE group is also sponsoring "The Magic of Mardi Gras" Fall Gala fundraiser on October 29, 2011. There will be a silent and live auction, a fabulous meal and great company, and of course all proceeds will be donated to FPAC. Stay tuned for registration information.

SPEAKER'S BUREAU
FPAC's group of speakers have been very busy over the last several weeks, sharing the FPAC story at some of our host & partner congregations. We are still looking for additional opportunities to share the FPAC story. If you know of any organization, group, business or congregation that is interested in learning more about FPAC, please have them contact Sue Baysden at suebaysden@aol.com.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL HOST WEEK
A big THANK YOU to Pastor Lyndy Zabel, Naomi Peterson, Sue Dergantz and their team of volunteers from UMC-Anoka and First Congregational Church for hosting a fabulous week for FPAC this week. It was a pretty quiet week and everyone seemed to have an enjoyable time. As usual, Wednesday night was a big hit with the dinner outing to Sammy's Pizza and the FPAC guests are looking forward to a later start on Saturday with the opportunity to sleep in a bit.

A very cute story during this host week…One of the parents in the program was a little nervous sleeping at the church and she just kept feeling like she was hearing odd sounds during the night. She was sharing her concerns during a phone conversation when her 4 year old son reassured her “mommy it will be fine because this is Jesus’ house”. The mother said she instantly had a smile on her face with that reassurance from her young child.

VOLUNTEER EVENT AT FPAC DAY CENTER
On Saturday, September 17th, a smaller group of volunteers from TPC ROSE will stop by the day center, bring lunch for FPAC guests and lead an activity for the children. Their goal is to also give of their time to FPAC. I would love for some of the coordinators and other volunteers to stop by on September 17th. If you are interested, just send me an RSVP. Your only role would be to have fun. Your presence will be an expression of the amount of support FPAC has in this community.

Volunteer Training at Andover ChrANOTHER SUCCESSFUL HOST WEEK
A big THANK YOU to Sue Witt and her team of volunteers at Christ Lutheran Church for hosting this week. With school back in session and all of the fall programs happening, CLC was a very lively place. Also, a special thank you to CLC volunteers that welcomed TPC ROSE to their site to complete the video footage for the upcoming FPAC video. I will be sure to share the final project.

Next up…Unity North & Glen Cary

FPAC FUNDRAISER
TPC ROSE sponsored a summer Women’s Golf Invitational to raise money to support FPAC. The golf event was last month. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed to have a great time. This group of women is still working hard to raise additional funds to support FPAC. On Saturday, September 17th, a smaller group of women from TPC ROSE will stop by the day center, bring lunch for everyone and lead an activity for the children. Their goal is to also give of their time to FPAC. I would love for some of the coordinators and other volunteers to stop by on September 17th. If you are interested, just send me an RSVP. Your only role would be to have fun. Your presence will show all of the support FPAC has in this community.

In addition to the summer golf invitational, TPC ROSE will also host a fall gala, The Magic of Mardi Gras. All proceeds from this event will also benefit FPAC. We really want to have a full house for this event and we need your help in spreading the word. We would like to have an announcement for the event in each FPAC host & partner congregation’s weekly bulletin and/or website. Ideally, we would like for the event to appear in the bulletin on the following Sundays… September 18, 25th and October 2ndand have registration information in your lobby area/information center. I have included a possible paragraph that could be included in the bulletin. Please call me or send me an email if you have any questions. Also, could you send me an email if you are able to include the announcement in your bulletin?

October 29th Gala to Support Family Promise of Anoka County.
TPC Rose is a philanthropic women's group that organizes and hosts public fundraisers to support charities serving the north metro. On Saturday evening, October 29th, TPC Rose will host a fundraiser benefitting Family Promise of Anoka County (FPAC). FPAC is the only program in Anoka County to provide homeless shelter for families with dependent children. Our church is directly involved with FPAC as a host or partner congregation. The "Magic of Mardi Gras" event includes dinner, silent & live auctions, and a dance at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine. Please consider participating in this one-time fundraising opportunity for FPAC by attending the event, becoming a sponsor, contributing auction items, and/or making a donation Details are available at the Family Promise table in the narthex and at www.tpcrose.com(click on Fall Gala Fundraiser). Thank you for making a difference!!!
