ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL HOST WEEK
A big thank you to Jeannie Hellman and her team of volunteers from Grace Lutheran-Andover. This week was jammed pack with lots of activities hosted by Grace. The families enjoyed a night of bowling, complimentary frozen treats from a nearby Dairy Queen, movie night, game night and bingo. Everyone had a great time participating in all of the activity. Grace also was very gracious to be a mentor church for our two new host congregations...Andover Christian Church and Oak Haven Church. They will be hosting FPAC in October. Next week: St. Timothy's.

ALLISEN'S LAST DAY
Our current Case Manager, Allisen Issacson will be leaving FPAC. Her last day of employment is August 15th. Please join us for cake as we wish her well on August 15th from 2:30p-4:00p.

New Case Manager
Trisha Perez has accepted the position as Case Manager for FPAC and her start date is Monday, August 22, 2011. Trisha has worked as a Family Advocate with Head Start in Anoka County for the last four years. She also works part time in a group home, assisting adults with developmental disabilities. She holds a BS degree from Mankato State University and is also a licensed elementary educator. She brings a wealth of knowledge of the many services that exist to support families experiencing homelessness and is very excited about the opportunity to work with FPAC. I am excited to welcome Trisha to our team.

LUNCHEON, BRIDGE, GOLF...oh my!
Have you registered to play in the TPC ROSE Group's 2nd Annual Women's Golf Invitational? Have you thought about getting together with fellow bridge players? Are you planning on attending the TPC ROSE Group Luncheon? These events are sure to be a great opportunity to have fun and support a worthy cause...Family Promise of Anoka County. August 16, 2011 is the date, TPC-Blaine is the place. For more information, please call 763-795-0800.

FACEBOOK
Have you stopped by our Facebook page yet? Connecting with us on Facebook is a great opportunity to stay connected with us and share our story with your other social networks. I posted the following message on the FPAC FACEBOOK wall a couple of months ago. "Mom and her three children just received great news about their three bedroom apartment. She was very excited but she was also thankful for her time with Family Promise because during their stay, her four year old son made a new friend. This was extra special for her because this is the first time her son has ever opened up and made a friend. " Well, since moving on from FPAC, not only did this parent LIKE the FPAC page, but she took the time to write the following message on our wall. "And it was a great blessing!! Thank you sooo much for everything! This just brought tears to my eyes! Her post speaks volumes to the impact that your kindness has on families that are experiencing homelessness right in Anoka County.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL HOST WEEK
A big THANK YOU to Kathy Lund, Deb McPeck and their awesome team of volunteers at St. Timothy's for hosting FPAC last week. Lots of activity happened through the halls of St. Timothy's. From a variety of meals that included ham and pizza to highly popular activities such as Wii games, roller skating and old fashioned socializing. With four families and a parent that was on the mend, the volunteers at St. Timothy's were well prepared.

For the next two weeks, we are trying something new...Peace Lutheran Church will be hosting FPAC for two consecutive weeks, a lot of work for the volunteer and pastoral staff....yes. But with Pastors Nancy and Val leading the way alongside co-coordinators Karen Gerhardt & Jennie Tedrow I know this will be a successful undertaking.

STAFFING UPDATE
Trisha Perez, FPAC Case Manager will officially start on Monday, August 22nd. Trisha comes highly recommended and has worked within Anoka County social service agencies for many years. Give her a call or send her an email to welcome her. Trisha’s phone number is 763-568-7365 and her email address is info@familypromiseanoka.org. I think she will be a great addition.

Jackie, a senior at Bethel College has been interning with FPAC for the month of August. Jackie has been a great addition to FPAC. Unfortunately, her past day with us will be on Friday, August 26th. We are grateful for the skills and talents that she shared with us this summer.

TPC ROSE Golf Invitational = HUGE SUCCESS
On Tuesday, August 16th, the TPC ROSE group sponsored their 2nd Annual Women's golf invitational and Bridge tournament. What a fabulous event! Every detail was thoughtfully rolled out and there was so much energy in the room, with women that came out to have fun and support a great cause...Family Promise. Well, the fun is just beginning. If you didn't get a chance to attend the golf event, then mark your calendars and plan to attend the Fall Gala. The TPC ROSE group is also sponsoring "The Magic of Mardi Gras" Fall Gala fundraiser on October 29, 2011. There will be a silent and live auction, a fabulous meal and great company, and of course all proceeds will be donated to FPAC. Stay tuned for registration information.
